Boat Owners Commentary: The Carver 390 Motor Yacht is a special boat with many fine features. It is one of the few designs which have an aft cockpit which is very handy for carrying things such as bicycles, outboard motor, grill, chairs, and any other items you might want to use on the extended cruise or day on the water. The aft cockpit also makes for a great place to sit, relax, or even do a little fishing. There is a door from the cockpit to the swim platform and there is plenty of space for you and the kids to swim from.
There are two ways to enter the boat. There is a sliding door from the aft cockpit to the aft stateroom and another sliding entry door from the upper aft deck to the main salon. The upper aft deck has a hard top and is fully enclosed with Sunbrella canvas & windows. The aft & side windows are screened and have zippers so that the plastic can be rolled up to convert to a fully screened aft deck.
Now enter the cabin from the upper aft deck to the newly carpeted main salon which has a fold-out sofa bed and upholstered chair. There is also a custom made coffee table with a removable top. This is where the hose and attachments for the onboard central vacuum are stored. There is enough hose to reach anywhere inside the boat. The 20 flat screen TV is on a rotating stand and can be viewed from the salon or galley. There is also an AM/FM/CD radio for your cabin enjoyment. From the salon you can step down & aft to the stateroom complete with wood privacy door, two closets for clothes storage, and a head with walk-in shower. A custom made wood cabinet in the head provides for extra storage. The 8 thick mattress in this compartment will give you all the comfort you would want.
Back again to the salon where you step forward to the galley and dinette. The dinette features newly reupholstered seat cushions. The galley has a micro-wave oven, 3 burner electric stove & oven, and a good size refrigerator. You will find that the galley has plenty of storage area for dishes, food, utensils, and spices.
From the galley, there are two doors. One leads to the front V-berth and the other to a walk-in head with a large vanity and double mirror. Each head has a macerator toilet and separate holding tank.
Now return to the aft deck and step up and forward to the drive station. Beside the captains chair is a wide seat capable of sitting three. Forward of the drive station is another wide seat for four more occupants. The forward seat tilts up to reveal extra under seat storage. The drive station has an easy to read engine gauge arrangement where you can monitor the vitals of your twin Crusader 454 cu. in. gas powered V-8s. There is also a second AM/FM/CD radio and a Raymarine Color Radar/GPS with many fine navigation and course maintenance features. The system allows the captain to view the radar individually, overlaid on the GPS screen, or side-by-side with the GPS.
Other fine features you would expect and get in this fine boat are: Winless Powered Anchor, Two Air Conditioning/Heating Systems for total boat comfort, a 70 gallon fresh water tank, a Kohler Generator, and three 110 fuel tanks giving you exceptional fuel range.
Maintenance: The engines have approximately 850 hours and have been aggressively maintained with periodic tune-ups and yearly oil changes. The engines are closed cooled with anti-freeze. In 2004, the bronze props were replaced with Nybril props. These props are very resistant to damage from debris which might pass through them. The bottom is in great condition with new paint in 2010.
